I am a true believer that website visits always have to lead to something more then just a plain visit. It starts with user value, but it has to be translated into engagement and eventually support your business goals. I have been working in the past 17 years on a lot of different online models and they can all work. As long as you focus on the really important things. (As you always should)
Goals should be: converting from unidentified to identified users, converting engagement into event registrations or (online) content subcriptions, direct lead generation via Native Content publishing.
